I arrived with a huge sigh of relief that one, I had made it, and two, I had made it on time. Hannah smiled, gave me a hug and we joked about how the drive down to and in DC had already made for some tense moments. Despite that, and the fact that her suitcase with her wedding shoes and leaving outfit had been lost, Hannah was calm, collected and happy. She didn’t stop smiling. It was definitely apparent that, no matter what didn’t go exactly to plan, as things always do at weddings, this was a joyous day.
In his toast, Jason’s brother and best man talked about how they were a perfect fit for each other and that, upon seeing them interact for the first time at his house for dinner one evening, he knew it was the real deal. I can say that, as an outsider looking in, having only met Jason on their wedding day, I wholeheartedly agree. They have that ease with each other that makes others feel comfortable around them, and happy for them and what they have. Thank you for entrusting me to document the start of your new life together.
I have quite a few favorites to share: new red flats for the bride bought the day of, a cuter than cute flower girl, beautiful sunlight on the walk to the church, a sleeping little red head during the ceremony, and many more. Thanks to Amir for shooting with me, who got mistaken for my hubby more than once! Enjoy…
Perhaps I loved this wedding because it reminded me of my own; a relaxed and intimate, tented wedding at home. The bride and grooms’ vivaciousness for life, love and each other didn’t hurt my affection for this affair either. I was once again shooting with Jen Arthur (have I mentioned I love shooting with her?!), and was again welcomed by the families and bridal party alike. From the peacock theme to the whimsical glass jars to the groom in uniform, this wedding was a lovely little occasion. Enjoy a viewing of some of my favorites…

I felt this shot perfectly captured Ryan and Ashley. Incredibly happy. Full of joy. And of course, so in love.
Joey and Kristin’s wedding was on a day somewhat like today; the skies were overcast and it was unseasonably chilly for September in Raleigh, but unlike today, thankfully, the rain held off. There’s something so romantic about a white dress, black suit, and gray skies. I just loved it.
As a second to Jen Arthur, I came into the wedding having never met the bride and groom. Despite that, both Kristin and Joey were so welcoming, so genuine. Calm, too, and happy! Their smiles said it all. Even before I saw them together, I could just tell they really loved each other and were so excited that their day had come. It was really an honor, and so enjoyable, to be apart of helping to document their love and all of the friends and family it brought together.
Again, many thanks to Jen for having me assist her! Enjoy…
I loved this. Seeing them see each other for the first time, before the ceremony, was a special moment.
